Shortly after moving to LA I was hired as an artist consultant and muralist by Buzzfeed to assist in a the production of a video ad for a blue tooth speaker product. This was a really fun and fresh experience for me having just moved to LA from Wisconsin. Not only was I meeting talented creatives from multiple disciplines I was being paid to use my creative gifts and talents. This mural was hand painted inside of an abandoned factory and each wall section is close to 35ft. The total overall dimension are s 7ft high x 70ft long.
This project had an interesting concept behind it. That music no matter what type spurs creativity and motivates us to be our truest selves. There was two distinct dancing troupes hired to help paint the walls and each troupe worked on one section up until the very end of the mural. One dance group was hip-hip the other was interpretive dance. Each group played their choice of music and then painted the wall to the rhythm and motion their musical choices evoked within them. In between their dance takes I was tasked with filling in the the composition of the mural and making sure that its colors were balanced and it had a motion that was indicative of the type of feeling the dancers themselves were painting with. Overall it was a great experience, one which I owe to fellow University of Wisconsin almuni for referring me for the position.
